I do realize that my fingers are in the frame. I was rotating the polarizer to bring out the clouds a bit better but I guess ‘fat finger syndrome’ got in the way.

The photos have been edited slightly though I hope they don’t ruin the image. I just brightened them up a little bit else they would have been too dark to really see much. I guess that’s what happens when you shoot towards the sun right?

    Really nice photos Tyler!

Do you find that rotating your polarizer is really difficult? I have a Hoya and the actual rotating part is really stiff. I usually end up just unscrewing the lens a bit… which isn’t the best way to do that. Am I the only one with that problem?

And yes, I almost always end up with a finger in the photo too ;)

    For VancityAllie
On higher end polarizers the turning motion is stiff for a good reason. It reduces the chance that the glass element will shift and throw the focus off slightly thereby reducing critical sharpness.

    For Tyler.
There are two ways you can easily fix the finger in the picture. Clone tool, or Crop. Plus if you level the horizon in the first picture then crop out the white space most of the finger will be gone.

@VancityAllie – The one I have which is also a Hoya seems to rotate fairly decently. I’ve unscrewed my filter once and caught it before it fell to the ground.

@Brennan – I forgot the fingers were in the photo after I uploaded it to flickr, but yes I could crop or clone them out :) I should look at correcting the horizon too. I seem to always be tilted!
